Citizens, NBC10 recognize Goodwill for service

PROVIDENCE – Citizens Bank and NBC10 have named Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island as the 2008 second-quarter Champion in Action in the work force development category. Winners in other categories will be named later in the year.

As part of the award, Goodwill will receive a $25,000 grant and promotional and volunteer support from Citizens and NBC10 employees.

In announcing the honor, Citizens noted that Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island has a demonstrated history of understanding the challenges and employment barriers encountered by adults.

“Citizens Bank is pleased to name Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island as the newest Champion in Action in the work force development category,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Citizens Bank Rhode Island president. “This award will provide the agency with recognition for the impact it has had on so many.”

Champions in Action is a joint initiative of Citizens Bank and NBC10, launched five years ago, to recognize and support nonprofit organizations for their contributions to Rhode Island communities. A new Champion in Action is selected each quarter among a range of social service topics.

A winner for the third-quarter 2008 Champion in Action award, in the youth programming category, will be announced in early July 2008. Applications for all remaining 2008 topics can be obtained online at www.citizensbank.com/community.
