PROVIDENCE – The Computerworld Honors Program, which awards organizations for technological achievements that benefit society, included Citizens Financial Group on its list of 2011 laureates in recognition of its mobile-banking application accesssMobile.
Citizens, which was nominated for the award by California software company Sybase, was one of 30 laureates in the Business Responsiveness category and one of 262 total laureates named in 11 categories this year.
Five “Business Responsiveness” laureates were selected as finalists and Boston-based State Street Corp. won the 21st Century Achievement Award in the category for its IT infrastructure consolidation. This year’s winners were announced at the Computerworld Honors Program awards ceremony June 20 in Washington, D.C.
The Computerworld Honors Program, based in Framingham, Mass., began recognizing beneficial technologies in 1988. The International Data Group, which founded the program, also owns Computerworld, a bi-weekly technology publication.
Citizens, which has branches in 12 states, launched its mobile app for individuals and businesses on Nov. 8, 2010.
In addition to allowing customers to view their accounts on mobile platforms, the app lets users transfer funds and approve pending transactions.
