Phillip Dang, a clinical psychologist on active duty with the U.S. Navy out of Groton, Conn., would like to transition full time to his new private practice in Rhode Island. So, as he puts it, he’s “testing the waters.”
In March, he opened Aspire Psychological and Executive Coaching Services in East Greenwich. Currently, he’s a full-time psychologist with the Navy and works on the side at his new practice.
He’s considering leaving the military when his current stint is completed to focus solely on private practice. His wife is in the same field. She works as a child psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital.
Dang’s work for the Navy provides counseling services for enlisted personnel. At his new office in East Greenwich, he has expanded that mission to counseling services for the general public, plus career and executive coaching.
“I help [clients] in developing their strengths and identifying their blind spots [or weak points], both professionally and interpersonally, including emotional intelligence,” he said.
He also offers regular therapy sessions to people of all ages.
