The Collette Foundation, the charitable arm of Collette Vacations, recently wrapped up its Mexico Task Force’s drive to raise funds and supplies for a Mexican boarding school.
The Granja Hogar school, located in a current area of unrest, is home to 156 poor and orphaned children. The Collette Foundation has been providing supplies and funds to the school for more than six years.
“In addition to normal funding needs, the current situation in Mexico has created more challenges, as local and international funding has dried up,” explained Allison Villasenor, programs manager for the Collette Foundation. “People are not traveling to that region, so La Granja Hogar has not been receiving the small donations that Collette clients usually bring with them.”
In addition to the basic supplies, this year the Collette Foundation will provide funds to construct new restroom facilities. The Mexico Task Force was led by Collette’s Chris Cahill, programmer, and Lucas Bialecki, district sales manager, with assistance from payroll accountant Carol Wright. •
