Dr. James E. Fanale | Care New England CEO and president
Health care is very challenging in the Northeast, even more so here in Rhode Island. Higher costs per capita. Higher utilization for nearly all services.
As I look back on my almost five years at Care New England, I marvel at how far we have come.
CNE has dedicated the entirety of its efforts to improving quality, and through that lens has improved the financial performance of all of our hospitals, physician network, visiting nurse association, etc. It is through this singular focus that the entire workforce has come together.
Leading this organization to this strengthened community position has resulted from a focus on communication, transparency, honesty, integrity and daily support.
Things aren’t always perfect, but the feeling of dedication and commitment to our patients is truly palpable throughout our health system. This dedication and commitment are the result of open, frequent and transparent communication.
To me, this is key to engaging employees. They need to understand what is going on in the organization. This has undoubtedly led to CNE’s success.
It has been a challenging time at CNE, but the one thing that keeps everyone here invigorated is the opportunity to improve the lives of those who entrust us with their care. It is humbling, inspiring and richly rewarding.
