CVS/Caremark donates $2.5M to health institute

WOONSOCKET – The CVS/Caremark Charitable Trust last week announced plans for a five-year $2.5 million grant to the Rhode Island Quality Institute.
The institute is a collaborative effort – including representatives of health care providers, health insurers, the public, businesses, government and academia – that aims to improve the quality, safety and value of health care across the state.
Among other activities, the institute has been working to foster connectivity among health care practitioners, as well as between the health care team and the patient, and encourage the use of information technology to increase accuracy and responsiveness.
The CVS/Charitable Trust is a private foundation established by CVS/Caremark Corp.
