Dawson acquires billing company from St. Joe’s

CRANSTON – The Dawson Group Inc. last week announced the acquisition of HMBS, a medical billing and reimbursement company servicing rescue departments, fire departments and physicians in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, from St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to the company’s website, The Dawson Group utilizes the “latest electronic medical-billing techniques to ensure the highest returns in the medical billing and reimbursement industry.” The enhanced billing practices help optimize claims revenue, which reduces claim rejections and accelerates collections, the company said.
The company said it currently serves the majority of Rhode Island’s fire and emergency departments.
