PROVIDENCE – Digital-preservation firm The Digital Ark Corp. has moved its offices from Newport to The Plant, a renovated mill building on Valley Street.
The company reopened in its new offices on June 1, Diana R. Coderre, the company’s vice president, said in an e-mail. Coderre and her husband, Edward, co-founded The Digital Ark in 2005.

Coderre said they made the move to take advantage of the faster Internet speeds available in Providence and for the 15-foot-high ceilings inside The Plant that provide ample room for the company’s photo and digitization studio.
“We regret leaving Newport, our city of origin and Ed Coderre’s place of birth,” she said. “Our families reside on [Aquidneck Island], and we will continue to participate in local functions.”
“In Providence, we will continue to service our Newport clients as well as our clients throughout New England and the East Coast,” she added. “We look forward to continuing our successful relationship in this new location.”
The Plant is home to other organizations, including the Business Innovation Factory and public relations firm Cutler & Company.
