DiJiPOP nets $840K, moves to E.G. office

PROVIDENCE – DiJiPOP LLC, a local startup that has developed a new digital advertising platform, has raised $840,000 in a seed investment that will be used to hire additional employees.

DiJiPOP raised the money by selling equity to 10 angel investors, nine from Rhode Island and one from Massachusetts, Ji Kim, the company’s co-founder, told Providence Business News in an e-mail. He said they wished to remain anonymous.

“These funds will be used to hire [for] business development, sales, development and account-management jobs. We want an aggressive sales plan to lock up both retailers and advertisers,” he said. “We will also continue pushing enhancements to our platform and migrating to our next architecture, giving us the ability to support billions of ads per month.”

DiJiPOP’s system helps manufacturers run advertising campaigns on retailers’ websites. The company was one of seven that participated in the first year of Providence startup incubator Betaspring last summer. It now has four retail partners and a paying advertiser, according to Kim.

DiJiPOP, which moved into a new office in East Greenwich at the start of this month, currently has eight workers, five full-time employees and three temporary ones. Kim said the company plans to have 13 workers by the end of this year.

The company is talking with venture capitalists about the possibility of doing a Series A investment round, he said.
