Supporters of Easter Seals Rhode Island, which aids children and young adults with disabilities and special needs, recently took to the pavement to raise more than $50,000 for the organization.
Held at Roger Williams Park’s Carousel Village, around 400 community members turned out for the carnival-themed 5K.
Participants mingled with Tony the Tiger and Paws of the Pawtucket Red Sox, while enjoying entertainment by Kenny Kool Light and Sound. In addition to the walk, there were also crafts and face painting.
The funds raised by Easter Seals will benefit 350 children and young adults throughout Rhode Island who have special needs or disabilities.
“The support we receive from participants, businesses and our sponsors is a vital part to the success of the programs offered at Easter Seals Rhode Island,” said Judy Fortier, Easter Seals’ director of development. “It is incredible to see the level of support in this community for children with disabilities and special needs.”
This year’s walk marked the event’s 10th anniversary.
