of Internal Medicine as chair-elect

CRANSTON – A local internal medicine specialist has been named chair-elect of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He also serves as clinical associate professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

ABIM’s board is made up of physicians from various fields along with health care professionals and members of the public who can offer insights into providing patient care. Physicians in ABIM leadership participate in maintenance of certification and collaborate with other members of the medical community to set strategy and lead innovation in assessment methods.

“As we face new challenges and opportunities in the rapidly changing field of medicine, board certification remains an essential measure of doctors’ proficiency and knowledge of current practices and information needed to provide the best care possible to patients,” said Dr. Richard J. Baron, CEO and president of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
