Entrepreneurs to discuss successful pitches at UMass Dartmouth Oct. 10

FALL RIVER – South Coast Entrepreneurs Collaborative will host “Pitches That Worked,” an event highlighting successful entrepreneurs and their business fundraising pitches.

The event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at 151 Martine St.

Sarah Athanas, co-founder of New Bedford-based co-working space GroundWork, will be one of the featured speakers. With a degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in studio art, she is a former web developer and marketing consultant who has worked and lived in Chile and Argentina. Athanas sits on the New Bedford Regeneration Committee, which is focused on economic growth.

Another speaker is Kevin Pelissier, former CEO of Mayflower Botanicals. The New Bedford-based registered medical-marijuana dispensary was acquired this past spring by Vireo Health International, based in Minneapolis.

The cost to attend the event is $15 for collaborative affiliates and $20 for nonmembers. Members and UMass Dartmouth students, staff and faculty attend for free. Registration can be made here.
