NORTH PROVIDENCE – The cancer program of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital received a three-year accreditation with commendation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, hospital officials announced on Aug. 2.
The Fatima Hospital cancer program received three areas of commendation for outstanding performance: prevention and early detection, cancer-related quality improvements, and reporting structures related to the laboratory.
“We are very proud of the quality of cancer-care services provided at Fatima Hospital,” said Dr. Kathy Radie-Keane, chairwoman of the hospital’s cancer committee. “Our committee is constantly researching the newest and best treatment and techniques to deliver up-to-date, cutting edge care, as evidenced by our accreditation with commendation.”
Applying for and maintaining accreditation is a voluntary commitment by a cancer program. •
