Fiore named new Community Development Agency housing director

FALL RIVER – Faust Fiore, the mayor’s former special assistant, is now housing director of the Fall River Community Development Agency, The Herald News reported Dec. 11.

Fiore will be responsible for overseeing “Make it Safe,” Mayor Jasiel Correia II’s new housing initiative announced in August to “identify vacant and abandoned properties and work to reduce the blight they present.”

At the time of the announcement, 320 vacant structures had been identified throughout the city.

Fiore says he also plans to create an abutters program that would help promote the sale of undersized lots not buildable to abutters, as well as focus on an ordinance passed by the City Council establishing a Municipal Hearings Office, allowing residents to appeal building and minimum code violations in City Hall rather than going to Housing Court.
