ALMEIDA: I joined the Greater Providence Board of Realtors 8 years ago and everyone there has been so supportive of my real estate journey. I am deeply honored and humbled to have been named Realtor of the Year. To be recognized among such esteemed industry professionals leaves me truly speechless. I’m grateful for this title and the acknowledgment of my peers’ confidence in my work.
PBN: What is your workday like for The Mello Group? What’s a day in the work life of Ashley Almeida and how do you like it?
ALMEIDA: I usually rise before the rest for some personal time before the morning rush of getting the kids ready and out the door. I always like to take time first thing in the morning to check the MLS, follow up on emails, calls, texts and touch base with any active clients with updates. I follow that with some lead generation and marketing work and then from there it’s a combination of work meetings and client meetings. Family is everything to me so whether it’s time around the dinner table together or attending one of the kid’s extracurriculars, it’s important to me to have that time. I love that my career allows me the flexibility that I have to be a mom and realtor, as well as volunteer for the things that I am passionate about.
PBN: What are your thoughts on the current real estate market conditions here in Rhode Island? What’s it like out there from your perspective, in terms of inventory, time on the market for listings, final sales prices, and competition between buyers, and so forth?
ALMEIDA: It is definitely a tricky market. We are still experiencing an inventory shortage, with just 1.4 months of inventory on the market, and obviously with that comes buyer competition. In my opinion, it’s always a good time to buy and sell real estate. People always need housing. I encourage anyone on the fence about buying or selling to reach out to an industry professional. Allow us to provide the information you need to make an educated and informed decision. I truly feel like you can never lose when you are investing in real estate.
PBN: You’ve also served as president of the local Women’s Council of Realtors? What’s that been like and what’s the mission of this council?
ALMEIDA: The Women’s Council of Realtors is a network of successful Realtors, advancing women as business leaders in the industry and in the communities we serve. I truly have to say that without my involvement in WCR, I am not sure where I would be. It has given me the opportunity to get involved at the local and state level here in Rhode Island in addition to forming friendships and business relationships with people from all over the country. It brought me to my current brokerage, and I am beyond blessed to work with people that are like my extended family. The ability to participate at a national level at conferences and meet people that build me up both personally and professionally is priceless. I will forever be grateful to my Women’s Council family for everything it has given me.
PBN: Can you tell us about a property sale that’s been one of your favorites to be involved with, and tell us why?
ALMEIDA: I would have to say that some of my favorite transactions are with first time home buyers. There is just something magical about fulfilling someone’s dream of owning their own home for the first time — the learning and growth as clients go through the process, the anticipation of the closing and the excitement of when they move in and make it their own and are so excited to share it with me. Those are the moments I love. I want the relationship with my clients to last a lifetime, not just that one transaction.
