PBN: What responsibilities will you be undertaking in your new position?
HOLMES: All operating and administrative groups will report to me, as I will oversee manufacturing operations, sales and marketing, finance, and human resources. I will implement a business plan necessary to achieve the expansion of Autocrat products and services in national and international markets. My focus will be on developing the company’s capacity for growth in the dynamic and changing food industry.

PBN: What are you looking forward to?
HOLMES: I am looking forward to working with a very talented and dedicated team at Autocrat that is focused on growing the business. They have accomplished steady growth over the years by producing the highest-quality products coupled with a focus on superior customer service. We plan to invest in the company and service to our customers to accelerate our rate of growth.

PBN: Autocrat is a fourth-generation family-owned business and also a well known Rhode Island household name – how do these qualities play a role in future goals for the company?
HOLMES: Autocrat has a very positive corporate culture that developed through the leadership provided by the Field family over four generations. We plan to build on those strengths as we grow the company and develop more opportunities for our people to grow in their careers and provide more employment opportunities in the community.

PBN: Previously, you worked at Campbell Soup Company for 16 years and then spent 10 years consulting other major food companies. Taking from your experience, what have you found unique about the food-product industry?
HOLMES: The food industry is very competitive. In order to be successful food manufacturers need to stay focused on delivering the highest-quality products to consumers at a good value. This philosophy has been the basis for success for Autocrat in the past and will be the guiding principle of our strategies for future growth. &#8226
