The National Football League has 30 of its 32 teams among the publication’s World’s 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams 2022. Forbes said the NFL’s media deal of $112 billion through 2032, the richest in all of sports, is the main reason why its teams comprise 60% of the top 50.

The New England Patriots are worth $6.4 billion according to Forbes. That dwarfs the $150 million current owner Robert Kraft purchased the team for in 1989. In 2021, Forbes valued the Pats at $4.4 billion, eighth in the world.

The Dallas Cowboys are worth $8 billion according to Forbes, an increase from $5.7 billion year over year.

The defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams are third with a value of $6.2 billion, and the New York Giants and New York Yankees of Major League Baseball tied for fourth at $6 billion each.

Rounding out the top 10 are the Chicago Bears at $5.8 million, the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association at $5.6 billion, the Washington Commanders at $5.6 billion and the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers at $5.5 billion.

The Boston Celtics are listed as 41st overall with a value of $3.55 billion.

Forbes noted population size played into the list as well. California with the largest population in the U.S. had the most teams in the top 50 with eight, with all residing in either the nation’s second largest medial market, Los Angeles, and sixth largest media market, the Bay Area.

Major League Baseball has only five teams on this year’s list. The most was 2015 when 12 baseball teams were in the top 15.

The Boston Red Sox are listed 30th with a value of $3.9 million, third among the MLB teams listed. The Los Angeles Dodgers are 26th overall and second among MLB teams behind the Yankees with a value of $4.08 billion.

Real Madrid is the most valuable soccer team, according to Forbes with a value of $5.1 billion. No MLS or NHL teams cracked the top 50. The New York Rangers club is the most valuable hockey team at $2 billion. The Boston Bruins club is the fifth most valuable hockey team at $1.3 billion.
