Forbes names Weekapaug Inn’s hotel bar among best in the world

WESTERLY – The Garden Room at the Weekapaug Inn was named one of the top 44 hotel bars in the world by Forbes last week.

Bars were rated by company inspectors, Forbes said, who evaluated them on data-driven standards for the Forbes Travel Guide. Considerations include atmosphere, beverage program, presentation, service, food, linens and other factors.

Of the Garden Room bar, the guide recommended, “Sit in one of the antique Stickley chairs and savor a taste of New England at this bar with some comforting clam chowder or a fresh lobster roll, along with a Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned (Sapling maple bourbon from Vermont, water, bitters).”

“Weekapaug Inn is honored to be in this prestigious group of Forbes ‘World’s Best” hotel bars,” said Corinne Finn-Heyl, general manager at Weekapaug Inn, in a statement Tuesday.

Garden Room wasn’t the only New England hotel bar to make the list this year. In Massachusetts, the Rowes Wharf Bar at the Boston Harbor Hotel was also honored among the top in the world.

Forbes said its inspectors surveyed nearly 1,100 hotels anonymously for the guide.
