The seventh annual Wine Tasting, sponsored by Gasbarro Wines, raised $52,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Approximately 700 people attended the event, which was held at The Westin Providence. Guests were treated to a tasting of signature Italian wines selected from the Gasbarro Wines collection. This year’s event also highlighted wines from California, Australia, Argentina and Spain. Attendees participated in the silent auction and raffle that featured items designed to appeal to wine connoisseurs.
The event was created by Mark Gasbarro and his family to honor his late father, Lombard, who died in July 2002 of lung cancer. In the seven-year history of the wine-tasting event, nearly $350,000 has been raised to benefit the American Cancer Society.
“This is an event that is very important to me and my family,” said Mark Gasbarro, a 2006 recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Sandra C. Labaree Volunteer Value Award. Gasbarro has vowed to raise his personal goal of $1 million for the society. •
