Looking for the perfect gift, for someone with a snappy sense of humor?
The Perfect Match Shop may have it. Some of the messages on its mugs and on the labels of its homemade soy candles can’t be published. But others take a familiar, if saccharine, message, and give it enough of a twist to make it interesting.
On a candle for the bathroom: “Wash your hand. Wash your face. Wash everything, ya filthy animal.” Or for your teenager: “I love you to the moon & back, but sometimes I want to leave you there.”
Coming up with those wry phrases has been part of the work, but part of the fun, for Cierra Fasulo and Justin Skory, who opened the Warwick-based business in March.
Both are still working at other jobs, but the candle, mug and customized gift company they started is off to a good start. They’ve sold about 10,000 candles since launching, Skory said. Most are sold online. A wholesale business has just begun.
“We spend a lot of time bouncing ideas off each other and trying to stay relevant with topics,” he said.
The COVID-19 pandemic has inspired a few of their best-selling candles. One such message: “There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
