Thomas J. Lydon | Bardon’s Water Services and Technologies co-founder and president
Starting a business is a difficult enough proposition. But starting a business in an industry that is not only extremely technical but has large, national players could seem overwhelming. But not impossible.
With little seed money, I dove into the commercial water-treatment industry by attending schools and seminars, as well as relying on my previous experience.
We scratched and clawed, looking for prospects and potential sales. It took three years before we opened an actual office, with that entire time filled with 12-16-hour days.
Within two more years, we moved into a larger facility in East Greenwich, something that allowed us to further diversify our product offerings, especially since our account base ranges from city and state governments to universities, manufacturing facilities and even a nuclear power station.
We developed a difference-making service, one that works with mechanical contractors to clean all heating and cooling pipes, including installing a control system to automate the process.
One key to our success has been a strong company culture, built on a proactive approach to customer service. Knowing our customers’ likes and dislikes well is an advantage for Bardon’s.
Today we are a multimillion dollar business with our headquarters and manufacturing facility in East Greenwich, as well as satellite offices in five states, and plans to expand nationwide in a few years.
But it hasn’t been easy. And we never forget how difficult the climb to get here was, nor how we rely on each other across multiple fronts to survive and thrive.
