HARI names Dulude director of finance, announces 2 promotions

PROVIDENCE – The Hospital Association of Rhode Island has named Howard Dulude its new director of finance and promoted two staff members.

Dulude takes the post with the state trade organization following Liz Almanzor, who held the position starting in 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile. She had worked at the association since 2012. Almanzor left in June, said Kayla Mudge, communications coordinator at HARI. The opening set the organization on a months-long search for a candidate to fill the role under an updated job description, Mudge said.

“Finding someone with knowledge in finance, human resources, and health care policy, specifically Medicaid policy, is very difficult,” Mudge said of the search to fill the role.

Dulude will work with HARI staff and hospital members to develop and evaluate hospital finance policy information to support advocacy efforts, the association announced. Dulude will also monitor and analyze the financial impact of both federal and state legislative and regulatory activities.

The update to the finance director role coincided with a staff reorganization, promoting two employees, Lisa Tomasso and Kristin Brennan, Mudge said.

Tomasso, who was hired by HARI as the director of external affairs in March, was promoted to vice president of strategy and public relations, according to the association. She will continue leading HARI’s advocacy efforts alongside HARI President Teresa Paiva Weed and assist in the development and implementation of the association’s communications and marketing materials, leading the communications, government relations and marketing team.

Brennan, formerly HARI government relations assistant, was promoted to human resource and finance manager. In her new role, Brennan manages HARI finances, employee benefits, state-funded grants and maintains employer relations.

Dulude comes to the job from Lifespan Corp., where he was vice president of human resource operations and Lifespan Health, HARI noted in its announcement. He graduated from Northeastern University, where he earned an MBA with a concentration in finance and operations management. Dulude currently serves as the board treasurer for Adoption Rhode Island.
