PROVIDENCE – Textron Inc. yesterday announced the election of James L. Ziemer to the company’s board of directors, effective today. His addition brings the board to 11 independent, non-employee directors plus Lewis B. Campbell, Textron’s president, chairman and CEO.

Ziemer is president and CEO of Harley-Davidson Inc., where he has worked for more than 38 years, starting as a freight elevator operator. A certified public accountant, he earned his bachelor’s degree and MBA at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a member of the boards of directors of Harley-Davidson and Milwaukee Junior Achievement and a past president of the Harley-Davidson Foundation.

“Jim’s extensive expertise in developing and driving global brands – and in fostering outstanding customer satisfaction and loyalty – will be invaluable to Textron as we advance our vision to become the premier multi-industry company,” Campbell said.

Also yesterday, the Textron board of directors declared several quarterly dividends: 38.75 cents per share on the company’s common stock; 52 cents per share on Textron’s $2.08 Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock, Series A; and 35 cents per share on its $1.40 Convertible Preferred Dividend Stock, Series B. All dividends will be paid April 1, to holders of record at the close of business on March 9.
