PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education will hold four public hearings on proposed revisions to the Basic Education Program (BEP), the set of regulations that sets standards for the public-education system in Rhode Island.
The proposed revised regulations cover three major aspects of the education system: curriculum, instruction and assessments; safe, healthy and supportive learning environments; and administration, management and accountability of the local education agency. The hearings, each slated to begin at 6 p.m., were scheduled for: May 11 at Middletown High School, 130 Valley Road, Middletown; Tuesday, May 12 at Davies Career Technical High School, 50 Jenckes Hill Road, Lincoln; Thursday, May 14 at South Kingstown High School, 215 Columbia St., South Kingstown; Tuesday, May 19 at The Met School, Unity Building, 325 Public St., Providence All hearings will begin at 6 p.m. •
