Hexagon plans 2017 conference in Las Vegas

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s annual HxGN LIVE conference will be held at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, June 13-17, the metrology firm announced last week.

Under the theme “The Shape of Potential,” this year’s conference will showcase Hexagon’s data solutions for the “smart factory,” the concept of an intelligent and dynamic system where data informs the manufacturing process at every stage of product development.

The move to integrate “smart factory” principles into traditional manufacturing is part of a broader nationwide trend in the industry to embrace data-driven information technology such as automation, process control, closed-loop manufacturing and the Internet of Things. General Electric Co. is one example of a manufacturing leader that has invested heavily in industrial IT with the creation in 2015 of GE Digital, which now operates an IT center in downtown Providence.

“HxGN LIVE has become a standout industry event showcasing how leading manufacturers are enabling the digital thread through metrology,” said Norbert Hanke, president of Hexagon, in a release. “Attendees get to see firsthand the important touchpoints across the production lifecycle, where ‘smart factory’ principles and the power of connected data, upstream and downstream, ensure speed and confidence in everyday manufacturing operations across many industrial applications.”

The conference will feature a 50,000-square-foot display of Hexagon technologies and exhibits from more than 60 event sponsors, as well as a speaker lineup including Hexagon customers, partners and in-house experts.
