WESTERLY – Larry Hirsch, a longtime member of Washington Trust Bancorp Inc.’s board of directors, has stepped down from the board after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Hirsh, of Westerly, officially left the board during the company’s annual meeting on April 28. He served on the board for 15 years.
He had operated the Westerly Jewelry Co. until his retirement in 2000.
Executives at Washington Trust Bancorp, the parent of the Washington Trust Co., said Hirsch’s slot on the 14-member would not be filled immediately.
John C. Warren, Washington Trust chairman and CEO, said Hirsch would continue to serve on the bank’s advisory board.
Washington Trust will be undergoing other changes in leadership in the next 12 months. John F. “Jack” Treanor, the president and chief operating officer, has announced that he will retire in October. Warren has said he expects to retire next April.
Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: WASH) is the parent of The Washington Trust Co., a Rhode Island-chartered bank founded in 1800 that has offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and southeastern Connecticut. Additional information is available at www.WashTrust.com.
