Historic New England recently hosted its Centennial Gala at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. The event raised approximately $300,000 from donations, the dinner, and a live auction.
The live auction offered a prize for the chance to experience three Boston Federal-style houses designed by Charles Bulfinch. The winner and guests, along with Historic New England president and CEO Carl R. Nold, will have cocktails, dinner, and dessert at each of the three houses in order of construction.
“We are very excited to kick off our centennial year and grateful that the public continues to support our mission of heritage preservation and education, even in these challenging times,” said Nold. “Thanks to the gala we are able to continue to reach, engage, and provide students throughout New England with the opportunity to discover the history around them.”
Historic New England provides school and youth programs to more than 36,000 students each year throughout New England. These programs are designed in collaboration with local teachers, and have gained national attention. The proceeds from the Centennial Gala will support the organization’s initiatives to share history with young audiences. •
