H&M to open at Providence Place

PROVIDENCE – H&M, one of the largest fashion brands in the world, is opening a second location in Rhode Island, at Providence Place mall.

The fast-fashion retailer known for trendy clothing at affordable prices will open in 28,000 square feet at the mall on Friday.  It already has a store at Warwick Mall.

The 1 a.m. Black Friday opening at Providence Place will include a sales promotion. The first 200 people in line will receive a fashion pass, valued at anywhere from $10 to $300, according to a news release.

People who bring used clothing in for recycling through the H&M program also can enter to win a gift card, valued at $50 to $250. The program either recycles or ships overseas used and unwanted clothing, which H&M says it does at no profit.

The Providence Place store will include clothing for women and men, a “shop in shop” for accessories and H&M kids, for newborns to 10-year-olds. The store will employ 30 people.

H&M, established in 1947 in Sweden, has grown dramatically in the past decade, It has a growth target this year of 10 to 15 percent in its various markets.

H&M Group the parent company, has 114,586 employees across six retail brands. The company runs 4,133 stores in 67 international markets. This year, 475 new stores across its six brands, including H&M, were scheduled to open.
