At Now or Never: Hobby Hub + Social Club, the main menu isn’t a selection of beverages and pastries. Instead, it’s a selection of arts and crafts supplies.
Ordering off the “art menu” is just one way to engage. Customers are also welcome to purchase a day pass for $7 to use the space for their own projects, or to participate in workshops and themed craft events.
“The whole goal and the concept behind it is to get people to explore their creativity, give them the time and space to dive into that,” said founder and owner Elvira Orozco.
At the 301 Harris Ave. cafe in Providence, Orozco wants to not only encourage creativity but foster a sense of community and bridge gaps in social opportunities.
Now or Never also offers a limited selection of beverages, which Orozco said will eventually expand into a wider range of traditional cafe offerings.
Since opening in the fall, the cafe has hosted customers ranging from established craft clubs to solo artists.
“People should feel welcome to come no matter their starting level or creativity,” she said. “You can call yourself an artist, or you can be someone who’s never colored in years.”
