PAWTUCKET — Home Health & Hospice Care of Nursing Placement acquired Consistent Care Corp. on Jan. 1, along with its 25 clients and 20 employees, and will maintain the acquired business’ Jamestown location, the companies announced Tuesday.
Home Health & Hospice Care of Nursing Placement has been providing nursing, rehabilitation, hospice and home health aide and homemaker services to Rhode Islanders for more than 40 years through its division, Nursing Placement Inc.

Consistent Care Corp. has provided home health care services in Rhode Island for 25 years.
Stephanie Ryan, director of operations at Home Health & Hospice Care of Nursing Placement said Consistent Care owner Gail Sheahan approached HHHCNP’s owner, Michael Bigney, with an offer to purchase her company. The company declined to disclose financial terms of the deal.
Sheahan’s offer was an opportunity for the Pawtucket company to expand its 1,200 clients and 500 employees. Consistent Care’s 20 employees, include some nurses but primarily Certified Nursing Assistants. CNAs are particularly valuable, Ryan said, adding that they are also difficult to recruit and even more difficult to retain.
Ryan said the offer to purchase Consistent Care came at an opportune time for the family-owned Pawtucket business, saying that at the time, “We were looking to expand both the client base and the customer base.”
Sheahan ran her business in the same way Home Health & Hospice Care of Nursing Placement has done with its own. “The philosophies were very similar,” Ryan said.
