Hotel Providence rated #1 in R.I. by 2008 Zagat guide

PROVIDENCE – The luxury boutique Hotel Providence has been rated as the top hotel in Rhode Island for rooms and service in Zagat’s 2008 Guide for Top U.S Hotels, Resorts and Spas.
The hotel – at 311 Westminster St., in the heart of the Downcity Arts and Entertainment District – opened in early 2005. Its previous honors have included a Four Diamonds rating from AAA, Best of New England recognition from Yankee Magazine and New England Travel and Life, Best of the East honors from Meetings East magazine, and the state’s top rating in the 2007 Zagat Guide. It also was rated the Best Place to Work in Rhode Island in both 2006 and 2007, in the small/medium-size category, by Providence Business News. (READ MORE)
In Zagat’s 2008 Guide, the hotel received ratings of “excellent to perfection” in the rooms and service categories – outshining all other Ocean State facilities listed in the new edition – and “very good to excellent” in the public space, facilities and dining categories.
The 80-room facility, which also has been honored for historic preservation, is home to the Four-Diamonds rated L’Epicurio Ristorante.
“Once again, are honored to have received such wonderful ratings by Zagat, one of the most respected guides for travel professionals,” Christine Nevers, the hotel’s general manager, said in a statement. “As always, this recognition reflects our employees’ strong sense of teamwork and commitment to higher standards of service.”
According to the guide, Zagat reviewed more than 1,000 places to stay for the 2007 edition, looking for the best buys for business or pleasure travelers in the United States, the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The annual ratings are based on a survey of frequent travelers of all ages and more than 900 professionals from the American Society of Travel Agents.
The Hotel Providence – owned by Hotel Asset Value Enhancement LLC (hotelAve) of Tiverton and Acorn Asset Management Inc. of Providence, and managed by hotelAve – has 80 guest rooms, including 16 suites; a 150-seat restaurant, L’Epicureo; and 4,250 square feet of flexible event space.
