PROVIDENCE – Caroline Skuncik, the interim executive director of the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, is expected to be named to the permanent position on Wednesday.
Commission chairman Robert Davis said the quasi-state development agency received more than 50 applications for the director position but said Skuncik was the “clear winner.”
Named to the post as interim earlier this year, following the departure of Peter McNally, Skuncik had previously served as vice president and senior project manager.
Before joining the I-195 commission staff, she worked for the R.I. Commerce Corp., where she oversaw incentive programs in Rebuild Rhode Island and tax increment financing.
She earned a master’s degree in planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary.
Davis said Tuesday he anticipated the commission would approve the appointment. An agenda item in public session is scheduled at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Although a contract will be negotiated, Davis said he expected Skuncik would earn what the two previous executive directors were paid. Both McNally and original commission executive director Jan Brodie were paid $192,400.
