IT support company opens Jamestown branch

JAMESTOWN – Computer support company Fast-teks opened a new branch in Jamestown in July.
The branch, Fast-tek Tech Solutions, will provide on-site technological help to businesses and individuals in the area.
Fast-teks, founded in 2003 and based in Tampa, Fla., has 275 franchises nationwide and two in Canada, according to Entrepreneur magazine, which ranked Fast-teks the No. 1 technology franchise of 2011.
Michael Anderson, owner and CEO of the franchise, graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1997 before spending 12 years playing professional basketball. His new franchise will specialize in PC security and data backup.
“Fast-teks really rose to the top as a business opportunity,” Andersen said in a statement. “Security is a huge issue not only for our government, but also for individuals learning to do business over the internet.”
Fast-teks ranked 120th in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 this year. The business also ranked 68th in the magazine’s 2011 list of fastest-growing franchises and 24th in this year’s ranking of low-cost franchises.
