PROVIDENCE – For their October meetup, Providence Geeks will host the Rhode Island Mobile Maker Lab, a project of the IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Newport, to provide access to the latest in advanced manufacturing and automation technologies for students, educators and manufacturers.
IYRS began work on the Mobile Maker Lab in 2016 after receiving a $75,290 industry cluster grant from Gov. Gina M. Raimondo and R.I. Commerce Corp. The lab, built inside a 28-foot trailer, comes equipped with high-tech maker tools, such as laser cutters, 3-D printers, computer-aided design workstations, CNC routers, and hand and power tools.
