James A. Procaccianti

The Procaccianti name can be seen everywhere in Rhode Island if you look close enough.

Procaccianti Cos. was the real estate developer behind the nine-story, 176-room Residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Providence, which was completed in the fall of 2019 on the site of the former Fogarty Building. Last year, the Cranston-based company launched a convenience store brand calledNeon Marketplace, in Middletown. And in December, it purchased Champlin’s Marina and Resort on Block Island and took over the controversial effort to expand the docks into the Great Salt Pond.

But its assets are located far beyond the Ocean State’s borders.

The hotel holdings of Procaccianti Cos., led by CEO and President James A. Procaccianti, range from The Regatta Inn, an independent bed and breakfast in Nantucket, Mass., to the Westin Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which features 265 rooms and 33 luxury suites.

And hotel ownership is just one segment of Procaccianti’s influence. Under the umbrella of Procaccianti Cos., there are nine subsidiaries that include a property management firm, asset management firm, real estate brokerage, development and construction company, parking lot management firm, a restaurant group and Jamestown Vineyards.

Procaccianti says it has owned, operated, developed or financed more than $10 billion of real estate assets since the company’s founding in 1958.

In addition to the Residence Inn by Marriott, Procaccianti’s hotel and resort portfolio in Rhode Island includes the Renaissance Providence Hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Providence andHoliday Inn South Kingstown. And soon, after renovations to the property, Champlin’s Marina and Resort will open on Block Island as part of the Procaccianti portfolio.
