EXETER – Actor James Woods is selling a Rhode Island lakefront property that has been a family vacation home for years. The property is listed at $1.4 million by Allen B. Gammons Jr. of Berkshire Hathaway Gammons Realty in East Greenwich.
The property includes two houses. One is a restoration of a cottage that the Woods family had as a vacation home since the 1950s, according to Gammons. The second is a custom, shingle-style home that the actor built more than 10 years ago. In preparing the property for sale, $250,000 in renovations were completed, according to the listing.

Woods, twice-nominated for an Academy Award, recently retired from entertainment and that action has prompted him to simplify his life and real estate holdings, Gammons said. The actor will retain an apartment in Rhode Island, as well as several other houses.

The lakefront home listed this week is on Boone Lake, and includes multiple dock areas, a cobblestone boat ramp, two fire pits and a modern kitchen and entertainment area.
In a statement, Woods said he had mixed feelings about selling the property. “It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that I present this property to be sold. It has been a part of my family’s copious fantastic memories of great times in Rhode Island, a state that I still call home.”
