JAMESTOWN- The Jamestown E-Z Pass walk-in center will be closed Friday July 5 and Saturday July 6 to allow the center time to process the 6,000 requests it has received in the past two weeks for E-Z Pass transponders, the R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority announced Monday.
“The success of our outreach program to encourage residents to purchase E-Z Pass transponders has been very encouraging.” RITBA Chairman David Darlington said in prepared remarks.

“We believe our customers will be best served by closing our walk-in facility in Jamestown on those dates so we can continue to migrate to our new computer system, as well as devote staff time to the back-end software switch-over that will be required to process the recent overwhelming requests for transponders,” added Darlington.
Though the center will be closed, drivers can still place orders for E-Z Pass transponders on Friday and Saturday at www.ezpassritba.com and over the phone or at AAA offices throughout Rhode Island.
