NORTH KINGSTOWN – The Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation recently announced that it has donated approximately 840,000 meals and 560,000 pounds of supplies to natural disaster relief efforts in Haiti, which was hit by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, and areas of the U.S. impacted by Hurricane Ida.
Job Lot said that by utilizing generous customer donations at the retailer’s locations, it sourced and purchased nonperishable foods and supplies, including hygiene products and personal protective equipment, for the impacted regions. The relief efforts, Job Lot said, were made possible through a partnership with the USA Veterans and Military Support Foundation, Global Empowerment Mission and United Cajun Navy.

“We can mobilize quickly; our customers are very responsive to assisting in crises like hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters; and because we are nimble and don’t have to jump through hoops to get things done, we can execute immediately,” Job Lot Charitable Foundation Executive Director David Sarlitto said in a statement. “Based on how many people are suffering because of these recent natural disasters, relief cannot come quickly enough.”
