John Tarantino Donates $1 Million to Pancreatic Cancer Research

John Tarantino

Advancing Medicine Touching Lives, a Rhode Island Hospital Lifespan Publication, featured an article in its latest issue, Gratitude Shines Through Grief, Inspires a $1 Million Gift.

This touching article shares the story of the late Patrice Tarantino’s (wife of Adler Pollock & Sheehan Shareholder John Tarantino) battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Pat was diagnosed in April 2021 and passed away on April 16, 2022.

Pat was treated by oncologist, Howard Safran, MD, Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Lifespan Cancer Institute. Not only did Dr. Safran provide great care to Pat during her cancer treatments, but he also treated and cared for her as a person, something special for Pat, John, and their family to receive from Dr. Safram when going through such intense physical and emotional turmoil.

John, very grateful for the care his wife received, often spoke with Pat about wanting to support Dr. Safran’s research and committed $1 million dollars to his work. He said, “Nothing would make me happier than to be alive and hear Dr. Safran tell me that Stage 4 pancreatic cancer is no longer a death sentence.”
