In Fall 2021, Jonathan Jackson, Ph.D., assumed the role of the inaugural faculty director of the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program at Providence College (PC). Joining PC in 2015 as an Assistant Professor, he was subsequently promoted to associate professor in 2021.

Learn MoreThroughout his tenure, Jackson has played a pivotal role in the development of the MSBA program, particularly in leading the program’s signature course: Business Analytics Consulting. This course, serving as the capstone experience in the program’s curriculum, provides students with invaluable experiential learning opportunities. Launched in 2021, the Providence College MSBA is a rigorous, quantitative program that blends best practices from math, computer science, finance, and operations management.
Partnering with prominent companies such as Samsonite, Citibank, and Blue Cross Blue Shield RI, the Business Analytics Consulting course offers students real-world data and business problems to solve. Under Jackson’s guidance, student groups navigate through the entire analytics process, culminating in presenting their findings to the company’s leadership.
In addition to his teaching and industry engagement, Jackson has demonstrated excellence in academic research. He boasts nine peer-reviewed publications in esteemed operations and supply chain management journals. His research interests include supply chain management, inventory and capacity management, sourcing and procurement, business analytics, and the operations-marketing interface. In recent years, he has been recognized by the Providence College School of Business for research, receiving the Excellence in Research Award and the Dean’s Summer Research Fellowship Award.
Jackson brings extensive industry experience alongside his role at Providence College. He boasts a strong portfolio of freelance analytics consulting achievements, having developed dashboards and predictive models for various clients.
