Jackie Mancusi has been named account executive for advertising, marketing and public relations at Jenn Lee Design Co. She will be responsible for managing account communications to marketing associates, designers, programmers and printers. Before joining Jenn Lee Design, Mancusi worked as a sales and marketing coordinator in New York City, where she conducted focus groups, coordinated photo shoots and executed reports and spreadsheets. She has a B.A. in science and marketing from Johnson & Wales University.

MANCUSI: I look forward to managing and facilitating the needs of each and every Jenn Lee Design Co. client by creating strong relationships through trust, constant attention to detail and dedication to customer service. Challenges will just be remembering how they all take their coffee.
PBN: In designing a focus group, what do you attend to first: the topic or issue, or the people you will be working with?
MANCUSI: I think of the subject. Most recently I helped produce a focus group for more than 50 preadolescent boys in a lacrosse camp where I was presenting a full line of lacrosse apparel. As subjects, it was crucial to stay in tune to them 110 percent. Unexpectedly, we then rolled out to our designer a much more bold line featuring turquoise, neon yellow and hot pink for 14-year-old boys, who couldn’t get enough of the colors. Needless to say, do not underestimate your subjects or their spending power.
PBN: Communication across departments is crucial to productivity. What steps in the marketing industry do you think could be used to facilitate better communication in businesses overall?
MANCUSI: Recently, Jenn [Bogutt] and I have looked into integrating and/or creating a task manager for the team here. Jenn has asked that we establish a system that allows permissions to access the appropriate jobs. For example, so a designer can login and pick up files, graphics, make changes and communicate with team members. By archiving communication between parties, there is no second-guessing. •
