Kenney Manufacturing investing $2M
in technology, equipment

WARWICK – House Majority Leader K. Joseph Shekarchi, D-Warwick, recently toured Kenney Manufacturing along with representatives of Walmart Inc., recognizing Kenney as a great Rhode Island manufacturer.

This year the company is investing more than $2 million into operations technology and machinery, said Leslie Kenney, president and CEO. Shekarchi lauded company leaders for the company’s commitment to keep jobs in Rhode Island.

At its Warwick plant, Kenney manufactures more than 28 million curtain rods and shower bars a year, a strategic supplier to Walmart since 1982, according to a news release.

“What I am most proud of is the number of families our factory has supported over the years, how many meals have been put on the table, how many kids have been put through school,” Kenney said.

The private company was founded by Kenney’s great-grandfather in 1914. Its facility in Rhode Island has more than 200,000 square feet and more than 300 employees. Kenney Manufacturing also has a location in Jonesboro, Ark., with more than 50 employees.

“Kenney’s commitment to its employees as well as its resolve to adapt to a changing marketplace have made us proud to call them a partner for the past three decades,” said Chris Buchanan, director of public affairs and state and local government relations for Walmart.
