LEGO engineering, coding concepts featured at June K-12 educators forum

BARRINGTON – Rhode Island Students of the Future offers a professional-development program for educators interested in using LEGO EV3 robots in their teaching. The course is $100 and is held over four days, June 25-28. Fee waivers are available to those who show need, according to a press release from the nonprofit.

Presenters aim to show attendees how to use the LEGO hardware and software that they can then use in lessons on engineering, design, coding and robotics, to illustrate engineering and coding concepts. Basic building and programming of the robots – including how to use the motors, sensors and gears – will be covered, as well as how to use the tools for science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics learning.

This program is open to any K-12 teacher, informal education provider, community youth leader, FIRST LEGO League coach or member of industry interested in learning about LEGO design, engineering and robotics.

Materials are included; registration can be made here.
