NEW BEDFORD – Human services company LifeStream Inc. has acquired its long-time office at 444 Myrtle St. and has plans to connect it to its nearby day center.
President and CEO John Latawiec said the company purchased the two-story, roughly 6,000-square-foot building on Jan. 31 for about $600,000. LifeStream had leased the building for a decade and uses it as its corporate offices. LifeStream provides services for adults with physical and cognitive disabilities, and operates group homes and satellite offices.
By late summer, LifeStream hopes to begin construction on a corridor to connect its Myrtle Street building with its neighboring building at 30 Nauset St. Last year LifeStream renovated the former car dealership as its Day Habilitation Center that accommodates 35 clients.
The connecting corridor will also include a conference room and elevator, Latawiec told Providence Business News.
With both buildings now owned by LifeStream, the company feels secure to move ahead with the corridor and other renovations to its two-acre campus, Latawiec said.
“It gives us stability so we can invest in designing the building and renovating the building in a way that best meets our client needs,” he said.
Latawiec said he expects the project to cost a few hundred thousand dollars and be finished by the fall.
