PROVIDENCE – State Treasurer Seth Magaziner is set to host the National Association of State Treasurers 2019 Treasury Management Training Symposium at the R.I. Convention Center this week.
Nearly 750 will be in attendance at the convention, which will include education sessions, networking and an NAST-sponsored public lighting ceremony of WaterFire on Thursday – the first WaterFire event of the season.
The education sessions will be on topics such as investments and cash management, college affordability, infrastructure and debt management, unclaimed property and financial education.
“We are excited to show our treasury colleagues what a special place Rhode Island is,” stated Magaziner. “The NAST conference will feature a robust agenda of educational sessions for attendees. The evening networking events will be unparalleled and include a public lighting of WaterFire on Thursday at sundown.”
The event is expected to bring a direct economic impact of nearly $800,000, not including spending by attendees, according to the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“We are grateful to Treasurer Magaziner and his team for recommending Rhode Island as the site of this meeting. We hope that more Rhode Islanders will follow his lead and bring lucrative meeting, convention and sporting event business to the Ocean State,” said Kristen Adamo, president and CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, in a statement.
The conference runs May 21-24.
