Mass., Israel ink deal on research, development

JERUSALEM – Mass. Gov. Deval L. Patrick this month signed a memorandum of understanding with Israel that will allow for further collaboration in research and development programs between Massachusetts and Israeli companies.
Patrick met with Israeli Chief Scientist Avi Hasson at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor in Tel Aviv, discussing Israel’s and Massachusetts’ “mutual commitment.”
The agreement will allow the Massachusetts International Trade Office and the Israeli Office of the Chief Scientist to work together to identify pre-existing programs in each jurisdiction and explore how those programs can share resources to expedite and enhance both new and ongoing research and development projects. With the agreement, entities such as the Mass. Life Sciences Center and the Mass. Clean Energy Center will work across international lines with counterparts in Israel to enhance their competitiveness in these key sectors. &#8226
