BOSTON – Lawmakers in Massachusetts are expected to take another step Thursday toward allowing full-scale casinos in the state.
A bill set to be introduced in the Senate would allow three casinos to be licensed in the Bay State, according to The Boston Globe. The House has already passed a bill allowing expanded gaming there.

Sen. Stanley Rosenberg, D-Amherst, plans to unveil his legislation Thursday in a closed-door caucus for senators, with a public hearing slated for Tuesday, The Globe reported.
Rosenberg’s proposal differs from the one passed by the House, which would allow two casinos plus the installation of slot machines at the state’s race tracks. Slots at the tracks are not part of the Senate bill, according to The Globe.
If approved, the legislation could pave the way for the casino that the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe last month proposed building in Fall River on land off Route 24 that had been envisioned for a biotechnology park.
However, Gov. Deval L. Patrick on Tuesday warned Fall River “to take a deep breath” about its casino plan in light of how much still needs to be decided about the state’s policy on gaming, The Standard-Times reported.
