FALL RIVER – The Massachusetts Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship launched a series of town hall meetings in Fall River last week aimed at identifying the needs of small businesses statewide.
The forums are at aimed giving a voice to small business leaders, community stakeholders and public officials in identifying areas where the state can help businesses grow. Over the next few months, the meetings will be held in various municipalities across the state.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Workforce Development, there were 178,652 businesses with less than 500 employees in Massachusetts through the end of March 2007. These companies employed more than 2.5 million people, roughly 85 percent of the state’s work force. •
