Mechanics Cooperative Bank combined recent employee contributions with a $5,000 corporate sponsorship from earlier this year to donate a total of $8,880 to the Taunton YMCA. The Massachusetts bank, which has a branch in Taunton, raised funds through contests, raffles and bank sales.
“Our employees really stepped up to the challenge this year and helped raise more than $8,500 for this great organization,” said Nancy Stokes, senior vice president of Mechanics Cooperative and a board member of the Taunton YMCA. “That’s what community banking is all about, giving back and directly impacting the lives of so many local families.”
The Taunton YMCA, a branch of the Old Colony YMCA, set a goal to raise $100,000 through its Strong Kids Campaign this year. The funds raised allow the organization to provide financial aid for children and families who would otherwise not be able to afford YMCA memberships.
The Old Colony YMCA serves more than 103,000 people in southeastern Massachusetts, including more than 30,000 members. •
