Memorial breast imaging program accredited

The mammography division of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island’s Diagnostic Imaging Department has earned a three-year accreditation for its breast-imaging program as a result of a recent survey conducted by the American College of Radiology.
The survey included an intense review of imaging practices, technologist and radiologist training and qualifications and an equipment review by a medical physicist. Along with the ACR accreditation, the facility is certified under the Mammography Quality Standards Act.
“Meeting the high standards set by the American College of Radiology requires a hard-working and dedicated staff,” said Kevin F. Reynolds, Memorial’s director of diagnostic imaging. “It is another demonstration of Memorial Hospital’s commitment to quality care for our patients. With approximately 770 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed annually in Rhode Island, we want women and their families to feel confident in the breast imaging services we offer.”
